Emily Shoffner

Art Teacher

Emily has loved and created art since before she could walk or talk. Her mother, preschool teacher Marilyn Lipscomb, always knew she would be an artist. Marilyn says she would give Emily paper and crayons, and Emily would draw a circle in each corner, content and pleased with her vision.

Emily is a wife, mother to three and a personal art business owner. She enjoys creating with materials found in nature and items that can be recycled and used in different ways. Encouraging a hands-on/out-of-the box approach to the art process and learning process is her focus when creating. She loves to help children explore their own artistic imagination and creativity!

Emily is a member of numerous Art Associations in Oklahoma, Board Member of the Edmond Art Association, and has won many awards for her art pieces, including Best in Show at the 2016 Paseo Art Member’s Show.

Artist Statement

For more than 20 years, I have enjoyed exploring and creating with a variety of mediums including charcoal, acrylic, oil and watercolor. Along with different material, textiles and processes on canvas.  The use of intriguing and organic color combinations is evident bringing the emotions of the painting to life. Each painting has layers of depth and thought brought on by emotions with the focus being on a variety of subjects and perspectives. The paintings express the combination where thoughts of the unknown and understood join. My hope when a piece is completed is for the viewer to engage in the curiosity of the story behind the paint.
